Commvault is making it easier for companies to restore their services after a cyberattack with the launch of Cloud Rewind.
According to Commvault, following an attack, restoring data is half the battle, but the other half is restoring the applications that actually run and power that data. Organizations can’t typically be in “business-as-usual” operations until those applications are restored, and often the rebuild process is manual and time consuming.
In fact, recent research from Commvault found that it often takes over a week to get back to normal, but with this new Cloud Rewind offering, that time could potentially be shortened to minutes.
Cloud Rewind restores both the cloud application environment and the data environment, including cloud infrastructure configurations. It supports the main public and private cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
It works by creating an Application Environment Time Machine, which enables restoration to an earlier point before the attack happened.
This “time machine” creates app-centric dependency mapping, which speeds up the task of figuring out dependencies during rebuild so that all connected resources and services are realigned properly. It also captures the full map of applications, infrastructure and configurations to take guesswork out of recovery.
