IBM and the IT modernization company Cognizant have announced the launch of the FinOps Center of Excellence, which will combine IBM’s technologies with Cognizant’s expertise to help companies address the escalating costs associated with AI readiness, cloud governance, and architectural modernization.
“Modern businesses face significant challenges in managing complexity, operational risks, and cost overhead due to the pervasive impact of technical debt and aging applications,” said Prasad Sankaran, EVP and global head of software and platform engineering at Cognizant. “Cognizant and IBM are committed to offering clients the ability to effectively realize cloud and AI-native solutions at enterprise scale.”
According to the companies, the new initiative will span three focus areas: mainframe modernization, FinOps, and AI governance.
IBM’s watsonx Code Assistant for Z will be used to help companies modernize their mainframe applications more efficiently and quickly.
Implementing FinOps will enable companies to have greater visibility into their cloud costs so that they can optimize usage and implement strategies to eliminate waste.
And finally, watsonx.governance will be utilized to help drive AI governance and ensure fairness and transparency in AI systems.
“Optimizing cloud, AI and mainframe solutions are priorities for C-suite leaders the world over,” said Stephen Smith, general manager of IBM’s Service Partner Ecosystem. “Exploiting automation and AI to reduce manual operations and accelerate productivity will help clients to realize more value from their hybrid cloud environments, reduce technology costs and the barriers to innovation.”
