Rancher Labs is releasing the latest version of its Kubernetes management platform. Rancher 2.4 features scalability, management and security capabilities required to help Kubernetes scale to the edge.
Key features include:
- Support for 2,000 clusters and 100,000 nodes
- Limited connectivity maintenance with K3s
- Zero downtime maintenance for RKE
- Enhanced security with CIS benchmark scanning
In addition, the company plans to add a path to support 1 million clusters in an upcoming release.

DataStax releases code for Apache Cassandra Kubernetes operator
The Cass Operator is meant to help enterprises and users scale out cloud-native data. According to DataStax, the benefits of Kubernetes operators for Cassandra are zero downtime, zero lock-in and global scale.
“The Apache Cassandra community spent the 2010s solving hard problems in distributed data,” said Sam Ramji, Chief Strategy Officer at DataStax. “Cassandra has become the standard for scale-out data. We see the 2020s as the decade of cloud-native data, so our priority is to bring Cassandra to Kubernetes.”

Morpheus Data updates multi-cloud management platform
Version 4.2 of the platform is focused on continuous delivery for Kubernetes, VMware and Terraform users as well as continuous compliance updates. Features include: ability to simplify governance and automation of existing Kubernetes clusters; ability to reduce the cost and complexity of VMware private clouds; improved app modernization velocity; and reduced risk and assured compliance with continuous tag enforcement.

Hazelcast announces Hazelcast Cloud Enterprise on AWS
The solution is a low-latency deployment of Hazelcast software as a managed service and is meant to improve the performance, security and ease of management of cloud-based apps, according to the company. Features include: built-in security, a cloud agnostic architecture, and in-memory computing as a service.
