Robin.io wants to make it easier for users to adopt hybrid and multi-cloud strategies. The 5G and enterprise app automation platform provider announced the Robin Cloud-Native platform now allows users to move complex stateful apps across clouds.
According to the company, hybrid or multi-cloud strategies help support growing infrastructure needs, but with each cloud having its own way of applying automation, deployment or monitoring, it can make things more complicated and expensive. While Kubernetes has enabled more portability of stateless apps between clouds, it doesn’t have a good solution for moving stateful apps.
“Multi-cloud and hybrid cloud adoption has been challenging for enterprises that rely on complex, stateful applications,” said Partha Seetala, founder and CEO of Robin.io. “This new capability in the Robin Platform makes it possible to move stateful applications across clouds to support SLAs, latency, cost and other critical business objectives.”
The company aims to extend Kubernetes with three steps:
- Create application-level snapshot on the source cloud
- Publish the snapshot to a global repository
- Pull the snapshot from the global repository to the target cloud.
